GIANTS NAME 2009 AWARD WINNERS
The Oshkosh Giants recently annouced its team award winners for the 2009 season.
Most Valuable Player: Mickey Fadness
Most Valuable Pitcher: Brandon Lenz
Rookie of the Year: Travis Helland
David B. Tyriver Award: Drew Eichstaedt
All four players currently play for the UW-Oshkosh baseball team.
The Giants finished in third place for the second year in a row in the Wisconsin State League. The team was 20-13 overall and 17-11 in the WSL.
GIANTS SPLIT SEASON FINALE WITH KENOSHA
The Oshkosh Giants dropped the first game on Sunday to the Kenosha Kings 3-0, but came back and took game two 4-1.
GIANTS SHUTOUT SHEBOYGAN A's 7- 0
The Sheboygan A's managed only five hits off Oshkosh Giants pitcher Luke Westphal, in a 7-0 win at Wildwood Park on Thursday.
GIANTS TAKE DOWN BANDITS 5-3 AT E.J.SCHNEIDER FIELD
Getting moved down to the ninth spot in the batting order can either harm a player’s confidence or get him motivated.
For the Oshkosh Giants’ Travis Helland, it was decidedly the latter. Helland sparked the Giants offense by going 4-for-4 with a home run and a double from the bottom spot, and helped Oshkosh beat the Manitowoc Bandits, 5-3, in a Wisconsin State League baseball game at E.J. Schneider Field Wednesday.
GIANTS LOSE BIG 14-1 TO MENASHA MACS
The Oshkosh Giants were defeated by Menasha 14-1 Tuesday night.
GIANTS DOWN BANDITS 8-6 ON THE ROAD
The Oshkosh Giants picked up a non-league road win Wednesday over the Manitowoc Bandits, 8-6, thanks to a two-run home run by Travis Derosha in the top of the eighth inning.
Luke Westphal picked up the win, coming in to relieve starter Troy Mrvicka.
Kyle Kannenberg was the Giants’ leading hitter, going 4-for-5 with a double and a RBI. Mickey Fadness and Drew Eichstead each posted solo homers for Oshkosh.

GIANTS SPLIT WEEKEND SERIES WITH CAVALIERS
The Oshkosh Giants baseball team split two Wisconsin State League doubleheaders over the weekend in Eau Claire.
On Saturday, the Eau Claire Cavaliers won the first game 6-5, but the Giants rebounded for a 5-4, 12-inning victory in the nightcap. Brandon Lenz was the winning pitcher in Game 2.
GIANTS EXPLODE FOR 21-12 WIN, AFTER DROPPING FIRST GAME 3-2 AGAINST CRESTWOOD
The Oshkosh Giants baseball team suffered a 3-2 loss in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader when the Crestwood Panthers broke a tie with a run in the top of the ninth inning.
The Giants' response? A 17-hit, 21-12 victory in Game 2 that saw Oshkosh score 10 runs off 10 hits in the bottom of the third.
GIANTS SPLIT PAIR WITH ELMHURST
The Gaints split a pair of home games with the Elmhurst Hawks, winning the first gane 10-3 and dropping the nightcap 6-5.
GIANTS DEFEAT A's 2-1
The Oshkosh Giants didn't nearly take advantage of all the opportunities they wanted to at the plate — but they didn't have to because of a stellar combined pitching effort that only allowed the Sheboygan A's three hits.
GIANTS SPLIT WITH JANESVILLE
The Oshkosh Giants baseball team suffered a 9-2 loss to the Janesville Aces in the first game of their doubleheader on Sunday, but the Giants were avenged in Game 2 with a 2-0 victory.
The Giants were outhit, 16-1, in Game 1 despite solid pitching over seven innings from Eric Schmitz, who fanned seven Aces.
GIANTS LOSE TO GREEN BAY STORM 11-9
The Oshkosh Giants dropped a road game to the Green Bay Storm, 11-9, Tuesday night.
Blake Berger was the Giants’ leading hitter going 4-for-4 with a solo home run. Travis Helland also added two hits for Oshkosh.Ben Schiedermayer suffered the loss. Relief pitchers Luke Westphal and Kyle Kannenberg combined to allow only one hit through the last six innings.
GIANTS SWEEP THE JANESVILLE ACES ON THE ROAD
The Giants defeated the Janesville Aces twice on Sunday by scores of 19-3 and 8-4
Troy Mrczicka pitched a complete game for Oshkosh in Game 1's 19-3 victory. Mickey Fadness went 3-for-3 from the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored. Travis Derocha had two hits and two RBIs, and Drew Eichstaedt drove in four runs.
GIANTS FALL TO MANITOWOC BANDITS 9-3
The Oshkosh Giants kept pace with Manitowoc in Wisconsin State Baseball League play until the Bandits’ Mike Hall recorded a grand slam in the third inning, helping propel Manitowoc to a 9-3 win Wednesday.
Starting pitcher Brandon Lenz suffered the loss for the Giants, throwing six innings, fanning three and walking three. Dwight Berger and Travis Derocha were each 2-for-4 for the Giants.

GIANTS KNOCK OFF SHEBOYGAN A's 7-3
Mickey Fadness' three-run triple in the bottom of the fifth inning keyed the Oshkosh Giants to a 7-3 win over the Sheboygan A's in a Wisconsin State Baseball League game Tuesday at E.J. Schneider Field.
Oshkosh had 10 hits, as Fadness was 2-for-4, as were Drew Eichstaedt and John Cetnar.
Kyle Kannenberg went the distance for the Giants, striking out six and walking none.
The Giants return to E.J. Schneider tonight as they host the Manitowoc Bandits.

GIANTS' WEEKEND SERIES WITH ADDISON POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER
All four games of a weekend series in Chicago were postponed due to rain.
GIANTS DEFEAT THE MANITOWOC BANDITS 8-4
The Giants notched their fourth win of the season, knocking off Manitowoc in Wisconsin State League action Wednesday night. Eric Schmitz got the win, going 7 2/3 innings in relief. The offense was led by Derek Hiroskey, going 3 for 5 with an RBI, Blake Berger going 2 for 5 with 2 RBI, and Kyle Kannenberg getting two hits.
OSHKOSH GAINS ANOTHER SPLIT WITH LOMBARD
On Sunday, the giants dropped the first game 9-3 to the Lombard Orioles, but came back to win game two by a score of 3-2.
GIANTS SPLIT WITH LOMBARD ORIOLES
The Oshkosh Giants split a twinbill with the Lombard Orioles on Saturday, taking the first game 5-2 and dropping the nightcap 2-1. Giants pitcher, Kyle Kannenberg threw a four hitter for the win in the first game. The Giants scored four runs in the second inning, with RBI singles from Justin Jirschele, Travis DeRocha, and Travis Helland. Helland also added an RBI single in the fourth inning. In game two, the Giants only run was driven in by Lucas Wirth.
GIANTS DROP GAME TO MENASHA 7-2
The Giants lost on the road Wednesday night to the Menasha Macs. Derek Hiroskey was 2-4 in the game.
